Any suggestion for android player which can smoothly handle Remux downloaded movies? Currently I have Xbox sX which native app cannot handle it freezes and lags a lot when enable subtitles. Small movie sizes runs well butarger file like Remux (50+GB) cannot run smoothly.

I am planning for Nvidia shield but I read somehwere people facing similar issue with that box as well.

Any suggestions?

I use my Xbox controller for stadia on my Google tv which works great but I’m unable to turn off my controller the way you would on Xbox. I’m at a loss on how to turn the controller off. Currently I just take the batteries out. Is there another way?

Would like to ask some buying advice from you. We own a 1080p non-HDR TV from 2017. We might replace it with a newer 4K model at some point but that's not planned anytime soon, not within let's say 4-5 years. But the smart-TV portion has become real slow and keeps crashing and hanging. We're fed up with that so want to buy a separate streaming box.

Our wishes:

- Fast UI navigation and short load times, no crashes. It should ideally stay that way for a relatively long time, let's say 5 years

- Ethernet port

- USB port for connecting a hard disk with a library of movies & series, which removes the need to use Plex from our PC

- For the rest we use it for streaming Netflix, Youtube and some Dutch streaming apps (Videoland, NPO). We will not use it for gaming.

We are doubting between Nokia Streaming Box 8000 (€80) and Nvidia Shield Pro (€200). It's a huge price difference, basically the Nokia can do everything we want today and has generally good reviews. The only reason we still doubt about the Shield is firmware support lifetime. The Nokia will be supported 'at least until 2023', after that it's unclear, it might get updates or not. I'm also not sure how quickly it would become slow or buggy after support stops.

The Shield has exceptionally long software support so we're definitely safe there. But on the other hand we are not demanding users and we will be (partially) paying for features we don't use (4K, HDR, gaming)...

What would you recommend?

Any way to make a usb webcam work with a TCL 55c725? I have the same problem with all the apps that support the camera (Duo, zoom, browser). It looks like that the dive is busy and the current app can't access the resource.

So this morning my Philips 50pfl5604 said to update, no problem but what changed besides the splash screen now saying Android TV instead of just Android. The homepage looks a little different but I still show my favorite apps. So what am I missing 🤔 🤣

I would love to close apps when the dont work so that I can restart them.

I noticed a couple days ago that the wave live wallpaper now supports Google TV. It provides an option within the app to set it as a screensaver, which seems to trigger a hidden menu for screensaver settings. I notice if I go there, any other live wallpaper that supports screensaver can be set to (i.e. pixel fleet, project M, I'm experimenting with others.)

The thing is, there is no option on my Google TV chromecast settings to get to that menu. I have to go through the Wave LWP app. Is there a shortcut app to get there that I (and anyone else wanting to experiment with this) can use instead?

Also, in other news, you can use animated screensavers on Android TV if you can sideload live wallpapers that have screensaver support. (I haven' tested them all.)

Edit: Works with My 3D Fish 2, and the Xscreensaver app from fdroid.

Hoping someone maybe can help me, i like my subtitles without the black background and in the captions section onthe tv if i try to customize my own subtitles no matter what i do the text is black and blackground is black so i can only choose the normal pre made subtitles which has a black background, and if i turn off captions i get these big ass subtitles with a faint background, i’ve tried customize subtitles on my computer which looks like a want them to look (on the pc), but they wont carry over to my Philips Oled tv for some reason, they just stay the same with the big ass subtitles.. so anybody who knows a trick to make the subtitles carry over to my tv besides the one i’ve already tried? And yes, i have deleted the app on the tv and cleared caches..

I can't get eon tv to work with my mi box s but on my phone it works normally, is there a way to trick it into thinking it's an android phone because my operator only allows phone for eon tv

English is not my mother language so I will try my best to explain. I just got a new tv box and when I try to play this kind of videos, the videos will pause for a second, the audio cuts off for a bit too. The video looks fine. I have tried many apps from the playstore I've used kodi, vlc etc but the results are the same.

Is this a configuration issue? What kind of player do I need? The tv box os is android 9.0 with 2gb of ram.

Only the mkv files will give issues, I can play other files just fine.

I own an Apple TV, so I mainly used my Mi Box to watch the movies I own using the USB.

Giving that the Mi Box S is really old now, are there other affordable more new alternatives?

I do not want to associate my Android phone or account with their AndroidTV or their account but want to watch my bought film on a bigger screen. Does Chromecast link your account device or Google account to the person, whose AndroidTV device it is, to their device or account?

P. S. We use the same network for Internet connection.
