Hello friends,
Is there a box with ethernet support but at same time being AndroidTV certified with occasional updates still coming?
I am using ancient Mibox3 with usb/ethernet dongle but it sometimes reboot by itself while watching live streams like live TV or twitch streams. Would like to buy device with built-in ethernet.
Thanks!
Update: Also, 3.5mm audio out is a must.
Update2: Found one device but don't know how good it is: MeCool KM1
Update3: MeCool seems terrible with updates, you are stuck with what you bought, don't think it is better situation with other China boxes as well.
Update4: People suggesting Shield but I don't like big, clunky devices with fans plus they cost a lot for power I don't need.
I bought the $19.88 ONN Media Streamer from WalMart. I have read many reports that it can play media files on USB storage - provided that you connect the USB Storage to the ONN via an adequate OTG "Y Splitter cable" or via a USB Hub with power pass-through. I have tried two different OTG Y Splitter cables and a powered Hub, but am not having any luck with any external storage - not even a flash drive formatted in FAT32. The ONN just doesn't see any external storage connected at all.
Is there something in Settings that I need to change?
Earlier today I tried installing exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon Software, but that didn't help. I later uninstalled and (just to be safe) did a factory reset on my ONN.
NOTE: I'm not trying to turn the external drive into adoptive storage, which is when you want to use external storage as a continuation of internal storage. This lets you not only store media files on it, but also Android apps too. This thread and this YouTube are helpful guides on how to setup adoptive storage. If you set a volume as adoptive storage it becomes encrypted and cannot be used with any other device. That's not what I'm after.
