If I get another Google TV device for the bedroom, can I connect it to my other Google TV?

by dylarrno

Hey everyone! Just wanted to know whether I would be able to connect two google TVs for playback continuity between bedroom and living room?

We’re currently using a Google tv in the living with I love, but the Chromecast in the bedroom is outdated and I hate having to cast as the playback doesn’t pick up from where the living room ended. I’d rather get another Google tv where I can have a remote but wondering whether it’ll be worth it.

Any advice?

Most app’s like Netflix, Prime etc have this function anyway if your signed into the same accounts on both devices.

Yes, I pause in one room and move to another room, open app, and unpause. The big name apps can handle that pretty well.

The Google TV home screen, however, won't add a show you're watching in the living room to the "continue watching list" on your bedroom tv. It is limited only to shows you watched on that discussion device, so you'll have to go into the app and find the show again.

you can't do that on a system level but if you use Netflix, Prime or even Plex and logged in with the same accounts you can resume watching on the second device within the same app

Depends on the app. It's all app specific. I know Hulu, Netflix and Prime all support that. Obviously make sure you're logged into same Gmail account on both.

It's pretty unclear exactly what your trying to do. Are you trying to watch a show or movie in one room and then go finish watching it in another room and have it continue where you left off? Most content apps save progress if you are signed in to an account or registered email. If your trying to cast one app to two devices that's not possible as far as I know.

Others have answered - for 'resume in another room' it's up to the app to track where you last paused, and most do.

If you're looking essentially for "play in bedroom and living room at the same time, in sync" - you'd be casting from a google TV - and I don't think that functionality is available at all, and if it were, you wouldn't not be able to watch on the casting device - please correct me if I'm wrong.
