Hi is there an app that I can sideload that will run and turn off screen completely dark? while letting sound run in the background? I tested twilight it doesn't have turn on and totally dark option. Thanks

I am thinking about getting an android tv box (either the Minix neo t5 or the jetstream 4k (since the beelink gt mini a seems kinda shady)). however, I might get a new tv as well and I was wondering what is the difference between an android tv and an android tv box like the ones I mentioned above or the mi box s for example. is there a difference in the apps i can get? can i get kodi on an android tv?

Hello, I am wondering with the newly released remote play (3.0) can it be used on a bravia.

I have tried side loading and it loads up and says there is an error once it is trying to connect.

Hi, I had a couple of questions that I hope someone a little more experienced than me can answer. I have a Sony Bravia XBR-55X850D

1. Is there a chance that Android 7.1 or 8.0 or even a fucking security patch will be released for this TV? Sony support said they couldnt provide news on that.

2. Is there a way I can unlock the bootloader with adb? Want to try to root it.

3. How would I go about making a custom Android TV rom for this TV? Even if it's just to up the security patch to this year, that'd be nice.

I keep turning off a bunch of the homescreen channels, but every few days, the all are back on. Has anyone ever come across this and is there a solution?

First time android TV owner.

When turning on my TV it sometimes starts autoplaying trailers for movies to rent on "Google Movies & TV".

I can't find any option to remove this or uninstall the app.

It just forced an Aladin trailer down my throat and showed a big "rent xx $" button.

I've bought a nice OLED TV and this wasnt on the package. This is NOT okay.

What can I do?

Hello, I have this 4K Android TV mentioned in title. For a long time I was using Plex for watching movies stored in my PC. But my CPU couldn't handle 4K movies, only 1080p was watchable. So for 4K content I used a USB plugged to the back of the TV.

Now I decided to try something new, I installed Kodi. And for my suprise 4K movie did not lag, when I played it over LAN (cable). It was working great.

Then I noticed in Settings/System/Display that the resolution is greyed out and set to 1920x1080p.

So my question is, is there any way to change the resolution? Or is it only the GUI resolution and the movies are played in 4K as in original movie file?

I have a Mi Box 3 and as there is no supported good browser in Android Tv,so I side-loaded Chrome. The browser works fine but when I play a video through the browser it works in minimized view. But when I press the full screen button the app gets hang most of the time and the video doesn't play. Again,sometimes it works well. The other times the app completely crashes.

Again the if I cast from Web Video Caster app, it doesn't work most of the time.

So in this situation, what should I do as there are some websites that doesn't have a dedicated Android TV app? Should I install another browser?

When I format it in order to extend internal storage SD Card disappears from file manager(s) so I can't paste any files there.

I bought 16GB SD Card because my Android TV Box has only 4.4GB storage (less then 2.2GB for user) so I can have plenty of storage for for downloading apps but as well for transfering my videos, movies, games...

I was about to install 5GB+ game (Minecraft Story Mode) but when SD Card is not formatted as internal storage I can't run this game, game can't recognize OBB files from external storage. And as I said when formatred as internal, I can't even access it.

Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone has a fix for this, I'm running 8.1 Oreo and my Wifi keeps dropping to the point where i can't access YouTube or stream movies or do anything really, I've done a factory reset. Removed the power cable and reconnected it, reset my router. Ive heard that maybe i would need to do a reset from the recovery menu but i don't know how to access it so yeah, if anyone has a solution to this, please let me know cause it is infuriating.

As the title says I'm looking for the best android tv box, I don't know how much is Google certification is important feature wise so if you could tell me that as well it would be much appreciated. I'm looking for 4k streaming and on Netflix as well. I want access to Google play store and I would like to maybe do some gaming as well so an option to connect a controller would be great. I know the mi box s is very popular but there are some very negative reviews on it. I do want to watch on stuff on Kodi so it does need to have access to it.

I've had this happen several times, sometimes randomly, sometimes several times over a few minutes, sometimes not at all over a few hours.

I'll be watching a stream and it seems like the webpage refreshes. Quite annoying. Anyone have any ideas what might cause that? I'm on Nvidia shield 8.0.1. thanks!

I have a mi box s, and it has worked perfectly for months but now all of a sudden the remote doesn't work. I've tried replacing the batteries, and unpairing, to no avail. When I unpair the remote and then try to pair it again, the Bluetooth search doesn't do anything so I just hit back on my android TV remote, and all of a sudden the remote is paired again, but still doesn't work! How do I fix this? And what is the button combination to put the remote in pairing mode? Thank you!

I'm planning to buy a 2019 Phillips Android TV to use with Kodi. My only concern is, will it handle a large movie library off a connected USB HDD (>2,000) or will it cause the app to crash constantly?

I have Philips tv and I have a problem with starting acestream app. It just keeps loading and loading, the app simply won't start until I turn the tv off multiple times and try again. Do you know solution?

Also, second thing. I know a lot of you heard about soda player for mac and windows. It is great app especially for torrent streamimg and also it has option for acestream links.

My question is: does android tv has some similar app for streamimg torrents (movies, tv shows etc...)? If not, is it possible to somehow imstall sosa player?
