Mi Box S Remote Not Working

by apcanario

I have a mi box s, and it has worked perfectly for months but now all of a sudden the remote doesn't work. I've tried replacing the batteries, and unpairing, to no avail. When I unpair the remote and then try to pair it again, the Bluetooth search doesn't do anything so I just hit back on my android TV remote, and all of a sudden the remote is paired again, but still doesn't work! How do I fix this? And what is the button combination to put the remote in pairing mode? Thank you!

If you are at a complete loss and unable to repair your remote after a botched reset, use the USB port to plug in a keyboard or mouse. This is recognized by the UI and you'll be able to navigate to the settings menu for re-pairing the remote.

Try disconnecting the MiBox, sometimes it forces to look for the remote and works again

The remotes are a bit unreliable. Try rebooting everything, unplug the box and wait for a bit, then plug it in again and let it start. The pairing combination is back and home buttons held together, make sure you're close enough to the box.

you tried to be in less than 20cm for pairing? i remember when i pair the remote when i bought it that say "hold" the center button, and tell me to be 20cm in distance. didnt bother because i think that just asking for good reception quality. tried to pair with no luck. after a few tries that didnt do anything, I just get closer to 20cm and it pair instantly.
After pairing the remote works for really long distances but no while pairing.
tl/dr: To pair in first run is just hold center button (OK?) in less than 20cm distance to the miboxs. dont know is the same button for repairing.
