I messed up. Please help.

I know I'm probably a lost case, and I really messed up buying this. But I bought a cheap "smart tv box" running normal android used by phones. Is there absolutely anyway to port the official android tv OS to the device? If there is, can you recommend me a tutorial? I'm relatively new to coding and I'm a script kiddie who only really knows HTML. Thank you.

Multiple Netflix/Hulu account on the same Android TV?

So I have a nvidia shield set up on my TV and that’s how I use Netflix/Hulu/etc. I just got a new roommate and he has his own accounts for these. Is there a way to easily switch between the account without having to log out and in and type out passwords and emails every time?

Can't Seem to Resolve Shield TV Audio Cutting Out

Hello!

So I have been a shield TV user for about a year, and have been experiencing this same issue since day one. With the 2017 model of the Shield TV (non-pro) the audio will cut out every 10-20min or so. After attempting to find a solution I only found that other people were experiencing this as well and there did not seem to be any concrete fix. So, after the release of the 2019 models I figured I'd give it a shot and purchased the 2019 Shield TV (also non-pro). Started to watch Iron Man 1 streamed over plex and got about 1 hour and 40 minutes into the film without any hitches, causing me to comment to my roommate something along the lines of "ah its so nice not having any audio issues." As if cued by my words the shield then dropped the audio about a minute after. Since this I have been experiencing the same exact issues as I had on the 2017 model except that they occur about once an hour vs once every 10 minutes. The drops are for maybe 3-5 seconds max. I am using the shield in companion with a Sonos setup. I have tried nearly everything that people have seemed to suggest; disabling HDMI passthrough, disabling CEC, etc and have not yet fixed the issue. This is not a problem strictly for plex as well, the issue has presented itself during Gamestream as well. I've only had the new device for a few days but this is extremely annoying as I had hoped this would be the fix. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Enable hidden apps

Hi everyone, I have a Phillips Android tv tv. I can see BBC iPlayer in the installed apps(Android settings) but cannot see it in my app list(home screen). The reason for this is because my region is outside of the UK because I live outside the UK. I was wondering if someone knew how to bypass the "region hidden app thing" and show the apps outside of the uk.

TCL Android TV - Percee TV (Power On from Google Home Issue)

Fix for Powering ON the TCL Android TV from Google Assistant or Google Home and other similar devices.

Such a first world problem but I could only power off my TCL 65 X7 and not power on, annoying as hell, because afterwards I just could use any phone to act as Android Remote, or just cast YouTube/Spotify from my Lenovo Smart Clock. Here is how to do it.

  1. Turn On Network Standby : Settings > Bottom of Network Settings

  2. Turn On Developer Mode : Settings > About > Build Number > Press OK several times until TV prompts you being few steps away from developer.

  3. Turn On Never Sleep while Charging. (Cannot Verify the effectiveness of 2 & 3)

  4. Disable Device Sleep : Settings > Screensaver > Put Device to Sleep > Off

  5. Go to Secret TCL Settings Menu : On your Non-Smart Remote > Settings Button > Picture Settings > Advanced Settings > While Contrast is highlighted,

Press the Numbers 1, 9, 5, 0

Do not open Contrast

Settings > Main Menu (Service Menu).

Here if you mess up anything just perform NVM Reset to set default values.

Up/Down Arrow Keys to Select Options. Right/Left Arrow Keys to Change. Menu (Hamburger) Button to go back. Back Key to exit.

5a. Factory Menu > Power Mode > Change From "Standby" to "Last" or "ON".

Go Back and Reboot. Also reboot your Google Home or Google Assistant device.

(Tip: If you get stuck somewhere at something like "P" verbose logging, your remote will stop functioning, Press the "OK or Power" button on TV itself to go back,

Also unlike some tips on Internet, you can use LAN for TV for the power on function to work, no need to change to WLAN only : Just extra latency for 4K streaming.)

Any way to connect Mi Box S to Alexa?

I've scoured through reddit threads about this but can't seem to find a solution that actually works apart from getting a Logitech Harmony. Not really willing to spend on one just for the mibox (I managed to link other devices to alexa except for the mibox so I don't really need another remote).

There are mixed answers regarding whether or not the Mi Box S has an IR receiver but unfortunately, I can say that mine doesn't. I have a smart IR receiver (similar to broadlink) that I use to connect my TV to alexa and while the Mi Box is in the list of devices, none of the remotes seem to work. I even tried to let the receiver "study" the Mi Box remote but the IR receiver won't respond to my remote. I'm currently using the alberto sonorus app but all it does is open and close the apps.

I'm looking for a something that can do basic play-pause-fast forward functions when I'm watching netflix and stuff. I'm wondering if there are any bluetooth smart receivers that I can add to the smart home app so I can link it to alexa?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post

What is the best streaming hardware as of early 2020?

You have all these various versions of Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Nvidia, Mi box, firestick, etc.

I was just wondering if theres a clear winner? I have a smart TV but I dont know if theres a quality of life that a Roku brings that I wouldnt have otherwise. I have an android and a ps4, and a very nice gaming computer. I dont know if this points me to chromecast or nvidia shield, or if Roku ultra is the best bang for the buck, or if Apple TV is worth every penny , etc.

Superbowl in 4k on Android TV

I checked Fox's website and can't tell if Android TV is a supported platform for 4K but it doesn't appear to be. Can anyone confirm? It appears FireTV is but Android TV isn't which doesn't make any sense to me.

Xbox doesn't appear to be either which is also weird.

Box recommendation

Hello,

My old Chromecast has been dying for a long time. Yesterday, it finally happened.

I've been taking a look online and I'm not sure it there's any point on getting a new one (Ultra more than probably to use an ethernet and have 4k) or getting something else.

In this something else list I've been taking a look to the Amazon stick, the Xiaomi box and a lot more of devices for a similar price.

What do you think I should get? I mostly cast Netflix and YouTube and I would like to have Kodi too. If a box is a better option, is there any box coming for which I should wait? Anything in the market that it's really good? (Apart from Nvidia one that is too expensive for what I want I think).

Thanks in advance!

Can you connect a mouse or keyboard to MiBox S?

Before you go crazy on me stating that all Android TV boxes can connect to external peripherals, hear me out kind souls.
I have tried connecting usb wireless mice and bluetooth mice but somehow - the mouse cursor never appears on my screen. I've tried mouse toggle (having to use a workaround with an android mouse app) and it works - but it's not pleasant.

I've tried googling but no one seems to have this issue and I'm starting to worry if it's my unit alone. Can anyone who owns a MiBox S confirm if they have no issues whatsoever with external mice?

p.s. I owned the original MiBox and everything connects seamlessly.

Nvidia Shield Accessibility Bug - Could rooting fix the issue?

I have been trying to remap buttons using Button Remapper and Tasker - it works great until you try and use the Home Screen. Every menu item opens a drop down menu and it's very annoying to use. Any ideas for a work around by using a rooted device?

Has anyone heard news about rooting the Nvidia Shield 2019!

I’m super curious about this. I figured there’d be tons of news about this.

Ah, apparently I can’t remove the exclamation mark I accident put in the post’s title. Cool.

T95Q Android Box

I checked the rules. Not sure if this sub is strictly for official Android TV or not.

Got a T95Q off Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/T95Q-Turewell-Quad-core-Cortex-A53-Ethernet/dp/B07K45NM81).

It works really well and everything but it has this annoying screensaver thing. It's not just a screen saver, but a system app called "hello_test" and basically just displays stupid advertisements and sometimes I'll be watching something and it'll overlay what I'm watching.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and is it safe to remove it? I did some googling and someone said NOT to delete it since it'll prevent the thing from booting altogether but I am not sure if I really believe it. Thanks for any replies

Xbox Bluetooth Controller

I have a Sony Bravia TV. When I first synced the Xbox controller to the TV it synced up fine. Next time I tried to use the controller, It wouldn't connect even though the Xbox controller was still showing in the devices from last time. So I unpaired and synced again, however. This time it kept saying 'couldn't pair' it took several tries for it to eventually pair.

Is this normal?
