I messed up. Please help.

I know I'm probably a lost case, and I really messed up buying this. But I bought a cheap "smart tv box" running normal android used by phones. Is there absolutely anyway to port the official android tv OS to the device? If there is, can you recommend me a tutorial? I'm relatively new to coding and I'm a script kiddie who only really knows HTML. Thank you.

No, there probably isn't a rom for that box and even if there was some apps like Netflix wouldn't work properly. I got a mibox s for $30 last month, or you can spend a little more and get a shield tv.

I don't understand why people do this to save, what, $10-20 under the price of a Mi Box?

Not a helpful comment, I know, so my apologies. But no, there is now way to "port" Android TV to your device without significant time and resources.

Perhaps my reading abilities are not very good, because I can't find the information on your box anywhere on this thread........

All is not lost, there are lots of ATV ports for many, many different boxes with different SoC's...... Pop over to Freaktab and see if you can spot an ATV port for your box.

Personally, I prefer those "cheap Chinese" boxes, because they are far more versatile.... Yes, I have a Shield, a Mibox S and the original Mibox. I also have the ADT-1, Nexus Player and the Jetstream. And dozens of those "cheap Chinese" boxes, YES, it is an addiction, but I am getting better..... Each generation of these boxes is getting better.

I purchased the Mibox S when it was on sale for $30 USD, even knowing I would not use it..... Installed the Android "Pie" beta as soon as I received it, bad mistake..... Anyway, it is tucked away in a drawer somewhere.....

Bottom line, don't give up on that box, you may be surprised that you can make a nice media center out of it.
