USB drive: how do you guys deal with power off?

I love the HDMI based “one button off” feature that allows to sync the TV and my box. But I fear turning the box off each time I turn the TV off is a bit violent on my USB (hard) drive. Every time I do it clicks badly and Android TV tells me the drive was disconnected next time I turn it on.

Is there a way to cleanly unmount the drive automatically when i turn the box off?

It’s an Australian Vodafone TV (Technicolor AFAIK) if that helps.

Problems with H9F streaming netflix

So it looks like the problem is with any app when we streak animation. When we streak Live action it works fine. Animation though seems like it is spreading up and skipping, and also has no sound. I have no idea what happened! If I watch a Blu Ray disc it works fine only streaming.

Sony X950H vs Hisense H8G

Both brand new 2020 Android TV's just released. I know these are 2 different tiers of prices in TV's but hear me out.

Originally I was planning on getting the new Sony 55 inch X950H on Black Friday for $1,099 (that's how much X950G was last black Friday when I bought it). This would replace my old Sony X830C which has not aged well with no dimming zones, and no HDR support, and a old processor that makes navigating stuttery and slow.

However after eyeing the new Hisense 55 inch H8G and seeing it has just now dipped as low as $455 on Amazon, it made me wonder what am I really gaining for $645 more with the X950H????

The only things I can determine I am gaining with the X950H from Sony is about 300-400 nits higher of peak brightness, and a better sound system with 4 speakers built into the TV, and a 120hz native panel (which I question whether it really makes a difference since all streamed content is 60 fps or less). Plus maybe arguably a TV from a more reputable reliable company (Sony).

On the other hand gaining Quantum Dot and HDR10+ on the cheaper H8G, and having every other feature that the Sony X950H base. Local dimming zones, HDR, Dolby Vision, 4 HDMI ports, and so on.

Am I missing something? Is there anything else the Sony X950H has over the H8G? If that's it, that Might be worth paying $350-$450 more, but $645 more (at the black Friday price) seems to be pushing it if those are the only differences.

Webcam Support for Android TV

I've seen a few older posts (2+ years ago) about using Android TV with a webcam and how Logitech webcams (Logitech C270) seem to have the most support.

A few OS updates and a global pandemic later, I am (im)patiently waiting for my Mi Box S to arrive. My family generally use Zoom for video calls (I know there are security concerns, nothing I can do about that, my mum can use Zoom - we can't change to anything else) and I think it would be great to use Zoom on an Android TV rather than my phone.

Does anyone have any experience using webcam on Android TV? From previous posts their seems to be issues with getting the microphone specifically to work. Any specific webcams that are confirmed to work, or are we at the stage where any webcam made in the last couple years has a high chance of working with Android TV?
