I think it's a Mibox issue. Its the only Android TV I have with this issue.
Open the SYTTV settings (press back during the intro) and disable options that clearly says it can reduce performance
Killing the app and restarting it usually solves the problem

Why complaining for a third party YouTube app that you have to sideload on the Android TV forum? This haven't any relevance for ADTV or Xiaomi.
The dev has Twitter, Facebook and a page. I am using it too.
But if you see in the settings of the app, ad blocking, thumbnail preview specially say that degrades the performance.
The app is slower than native YouTube on my Mi Boxes 3, Mi Box S and Shield TV Pro 2019 but it's descent on its own.
Seconding this. Painfully slow... despite my device being very fast (rooted, debloated)
