I'm working as a QA manager in a software development project for an Android TV app and I need to capture the traffic the app makes for debugging purposes, but i cannot make it work.

The steps I followed to no result were this, if it is useful:

○I've rooted the Android TV
○I've decompiled the app and recompiled it with the android manifest file that allows custom trust ○certificates
○I've formatted the fiddler trust certificate to a .0 file, pushed it through adb and authorized it through adb shell

When I enter my pc IP as proxy, I lose internet connection, when it should give me internet access and capture the traffic through fiddler

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there any error in my process? Do you have any suggestions?

Anyone else experiencing major issues with the newest update?

It worked 100 fine before and now the TV is very buggy.

Voice command via GA and Chromecast Ultra woke the TV just fine before and now it doesn't work. Same goes for casting music via Chromecast to an off TV

Turning on docked switch on used to wake the TV. Turning on my PS4 used to wake the TV.

None of those work. Got a black screen while trying to navigate to the home screen to mess with settings before and had to go back to last input to get out of it. 3rd attempt got me in.

Anyone experiencing this??

I have been using Puffin Browser on my Shield to bring up a website that plays videos (but doesn't cast directly from phone). It worked great, all of a sudden yesterday it asked me to pay a monthly fee and I could not continue to use it unless I agree. Is this a new fee? Or did I do something to cause it to no longer be free. I like Puffin, but only use it maybe 3 times a year so don't feel it is worth a monthly fee to me, I would be more likely to pay a 1 time fee. I mostly like how the remote worked and how it saved my last viewed pages. Any suggestions for a different browser if the monthly fee is now a requirement. I searched this sub and saw firefox and chrome recommendations, but they seemed to not have all the great things puffin did but not against giving them a shot. Thanks for any update on puffin and also other suggestions.

I do not have my TV connected to and cable/aerial provider, so is it possible to add an m3u source to the Live TV rather than just google play movies & TV?
I don't mind having to sideload apps if necessary.

I’m starting to wonder whether it’s possible. I have tried installing the ‘Android TV Launcher’ but it won’t install. I assume some developers lock you out from changing the launcher?

I would like to know if there is a possibility to restrict the access to the settings. My mother is messing up with the Android TV everytime, and I would like to prevent her to get inside the settings accidentally.

I have a restricted profile ON on but it seems to be able to block only other apps and not the settings panel. Is there any workaround?

I don't have Internet on my TV so I would be able to sideload it. Is there an app that does this? Basically I just want to display a single pixel permanently so the backlight won't turn off on black screens (which my TV hard-codedly does, sadly).

Hi Folks, i just recently picked up a Bravia ATV3.

Without doing any research I thought, awesome and assumed I would have access to the full play store. I quickly realised this was not the case.

I am not to familiar with sideloading, but am giving it a try, i downloaded some APKs (nowTV, virginmedia player, SkyPlayer to use the family subscriptions etc.). They install fine.

Problem is they open with the wrong orientation and in some cases I can’t navigate through the menus (assuming its because it expects the device to be touch screen).

Any hints and tips to get around this?

Also, any other hints and tips would be appreciated. I thought the androidtv would make this easy, but seems the garden is walled higher than i thought!

I have recently bought a Xiaomi tv stick. I installed the Plex application but streaming movies is super slow, not working properly...

But when I stream using my phone and cast it to the TV stick. It works fine...

Network shouldn't be the issue because casting and other apps works fine, but the Plex app itself doesn't work...

Any ideas?

EDIT: Reinstalling PLEX app solved the issue. Now working perfect!

Hello, I finally found a solution to map the following buttons on Mi TVs-

1. Mi PatchWall button
2. Netflix Button
3. Prime Video button

Please follow the steps below-

1. Map the buttons as usual in Button Mapper.
2. Go to Settings > Apps > Special App Access > Usage Access > Enable Button Mapper.
3. Go to Settings > Apps > Special App Access > Modify System Settings > Enable Button Mapper.

After this, your buttons should work as you set in the Button Mapper app WITHOUT launching the app the button was made for.

EDIT: Only single press and double press mapping works, long press ends up opening the intended app.

I have an U49C7006 Android TV from TCL, and while image quality is very good, I'm constantly annoyed with crashes on Apps like Youtube and slowness. The TV takes more than 2 minutes just to boot.

So, is it possible to completely remove Android TV and make it dumb? Or at least to somehow replace it with a lightweight Android version without all the bloatware?

I am talking about Sony Android TV.. Not Android TV box. Yes, I am aware of NordVPN and its perfect for Android TV due to rotate but it is not free.

I am looking for free VPN for Android TV. There are several good apps and worked great but the problem is that the whole app I found doesn't rotate and doesn't react very well to the remote.

Going a little crazy here and trying to see if it is just me or an AndroidTV app issue.

I have a Shield 2019 Pro and the last two shows I watched on Prime Video (The Boys and World's Most Difficult Race) had scenes where non-english was spoken and intended to have captions but no captions are present unless I turn on CC - English which then enables ALL captions for the show.

I wouldn't care but captions drive my wife crazy, and I obviously know this isn't "as intended". I loaded it up quick in a web browser and it worked as intended (English captions when Spanish is being spoken but not when English is being spoken).

Any others have experience with this? Or is it working as intended on your AndroidTV?
