Yesterday the app was working flawlessly, but it seems like a sudden issue is causing any video played to buffer every few seconds. Is anyone else experiencing this currently?

That is because Google periodically implement and update some code that throttles the bandwidth if not processed correctly by the client. The only fix is to update the client to match that updated code and solve the n parameter correctly, or else the download will be throttled at around 50kb/s.
It happened to me earlier.
I installed the new update and now the videos won't even start. I click on one and it just goes back to a refreshed reccomended feed.
thank god it wasnt just me...
Think 15.79 beta was released. Installed the latest beta release now it’s working again
Just download the beta release for back up... That one is working flawlessly..
Happening to me too
This is happening to me a lot now. No idea what to do.
really hope isnt Google cracking down ughhhh
Yup.. there was an update this afternoon and now there's no playback at all. I'm sure it'll be fixed ASAP
update on the Chromecast with GTV? Installed the latest beta release now it’s working again
This just happened to me on one specific video only, super weird never had this issue before.
Let's hope it's not the end like YouTube Vanced.
Yeah worked flawless yesterday but today videos don’t work/buffers but never plays. . Can confirm it works when not signed into your account.
Didn't install any update recently so I don't think it's version specific.
I have to bump it down to disgusting 360p to play something somewhat seamlessly. Stock youtube app llays 4k just fine though.
I hope it's not google making moves.
EDIT: updated to 15.81 and issue was fixed (Aug12)
Yes. I've had to reduce the quality to 480 to play smoothly. This is the case on both of my Chromecasts w/ Google TV. The default YouTube app is playing fine.
Also having the buffering issue on all my TV's with smart tube that started today...works ok when signed out of my yt account or dropping down to 360p. Hope fixed soon. edit - I downloaded the beta version 15.78 and it works fine again.
Yes, but just face this issue now.
I am experiencing the same issue since the update anyone has an apk for 15.30 ?
Wow Thank God its fixed …it was working flawlessly for last 15 months and just today had the same issues…. Would have avoided headache if came directly here instead of reinstalling factory resetting the chromecast; smarttube etc 😄😄
Same here i thought it was just my connection (i do have a pretty slow internet connection but it almost never buffers like that), when i dropped it to 360p it stopped buffering.
Same
Quite a few people are chiming in on the github issue page. We just have to wait patiently for a fix. In the meantime, as long as you do not log into your google account it appears to work just fine.
I'm getting ads..is there a fix for that
Had issue with stable, fixed by switching to Beta.
Same for me
How do I update on the Chromecast with GTV? I have permissions to install from unknown sources but it still doesn't allow me.
Today I fixed not only all my slow fire sticks but also other sluggish wireless devices in my house by disabling IPv6 in my router settings. Router Is Fios G3100. I hope someone else will try this out too to see if this is a more universal fix.
Anyone else getting a problem with STN beta today, videos play but if it skips an intro or intermission the video just stops with continuous buffer circle, I have to back out of the video then hit play again for it to resume after the skip, problem is there could be many skips in a single video which makes watching them impossible, I have to turn sponsor block off for videos to play uninterrupted
I have uninstalled STN and re downloaded from official github Beta 15.95 but problem is still there
It IS getting worse, buffering even 480 !
Hope it’s not Google fighting back and they block/slow you when you are signed in… it happened before.
Back to official YT app until this is solved
Increase the log buffer from admin mod
Version 15.78, which just came out, fixes the problem on my app.
