What's the over-under on Google releasing a model with 8 GB just before they mandate this?
Just like they did with the CCwGTV and AV1.
A micro SD slot would be nice.
"strongly encouraging" does not seem like enough.
Also, the 16GB is total storage, not FREE storage.
The Sony Bravia has 16GB. When I saw that spec I thought "perfect! That'll be plenty of space for a few years". NOPE. It has the same incredibly limited free space as every other budget Android TV device, just a lot more storage taken up by built-in Sony shit you can't delete.
I think if there's going to be a mandate of any kind, it needs to specify a minimum free user-accessible space after all system / required apps are installed.
Double storage would still be too small. Micro SD and Lan would be nice
how much to just put a microsd slot on my TV? It works for mobile
Makes sense. We now have three of the Google TV Chromecasts and love them. They are fantastic. You can add storage but it would be nice if built in.
how about letting me use ntfs hard drives.
Phew shield pro still be supported then.
I just wish it had ac3 decoding
Very limited storage is clearly done on purpose so you stick to a handful of apps; they don’t want competition.

A new CCWGTV with at least this, more RAM and a better processor, please. The current one has moments of bad input lag. The hardware was barely sufficient when it was released.
