Go to Settings - Remote & Accessories - Setup buttons on remote - Reset - Clear and it's done. Now you can use the android device volume.

Just click Back + Volume UP to increase stick volume..
Use voice command and say Set Volume to Max . It should work.
So the device volume level doesn't change to a fixed state when the remote is programmed to instead control the TV volume? humm, that's not good.
You can increase volume with the google home app.
