Android TV picks up the “Hey google” in commercials

by Texas_sucks15

When I'm watching tv the assistant feature is activated when they say “hey google” in the commercials. It’s happening often now with those new google commercials and It’s really annoying…is there a way to correct this without turning off the feature? I still would like to use it as its convenient for me in other situations.

Same complaint. I thought the point of teaching my voice was to prevent this shit from happening. Last night my Google home answered the same commercial 5 times. Annoying as fuck.

Voice recognition is a joke and a serious security risk. Anyone can do whatever they want to your device with a simple 'hey google'

I remembered this story: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/6-year-old-brooke-neitzel-orders-dollhouse-cookies-with-amazon-echo-dot-alexa/ and that after the news reported it, were several reports of dollhouses orders from Alexa hearing the same command from the tv.

How do they not know this is a problem. Google had been good about not saying it in their commercials(unlike apple) but now it's like they forgot.

Why watch commercials if you have an Android TV?

Your TV manufacturer screwed up and it's passing the audio out back in. Details on your device, model, and build?

They don't even have to say hey Google. I've had it trigger while streaming for no reason. Rewind and it does it again but no dialog spoken.
