What should I get? Nvidia Shield or MI TV S 4K?

by jmbits

It's not for me, as I usually prefer the most powerful gadget lol.

But a friend wants an Android box to: watch local news, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, chromecast, and perhaps some light browsing.

I guess both can do that, but just wondering if the MI TV S can handle that flawlessly? Or maybe there's a way to configure it so that it does? Or should I just make my friend spend more and go for the Shield?

Thanks!!

You can do everything listed with a $20 ONN box from Walmart. Unless you want to run a Plex server or something, the shield is overkill.

Shield is overkill for those purposes.

Xiaomi Stick 4K is fast and responsive device. More than enough.

Get the onn streaming box 4k it cost 19.88 at Wal-Mart.It has the andriod interface like the Nvidia Shield. You can expand the storage. Look at the YouTube video of Troypoint the video will show you how to do it. With a otg cable ,but you must first format it to fat32. Troypoint has another video how you do that also. The onn streaming box is better than the firestick and runs flawless and saves you alot of money compare to the 199.00 dollar shield. I have a Nvidia Shield and a onn streaming box 4K and like both of them.

nVidia shield!

I purchased and tested the two devices, and through the experiment, I found that the Xiaomi device has a kind of lag when displaying the content on my 120 hz tv ,maybe this happens to me because my tv support 120hz ,, and the Nvidia device its main defect is the weakness of Bluetooth, which makes the remote and the devices connected through it disconnect, and the Nvidia suffers from freezing surprise ,, and the two devices doesn't support auto frame rate match

I have both. Nvidia pro all the way

I have every device there is only get the shield or the onn UHD

bartturner

Geeze. Shield between those two. That is a no brainer.

But if you do not want to spend as much I would look at the Google TV Chromecast. We now have 3 and they are excellent.

I love my Nvidia shield for what you need it for as well as it being a game emulator as I have over 500 retro games on it. The inn boxes on sale for $14 you can't beat it and that's what I use when I go travel it to a hotel so I love both 👍🏻
