Am in need of an android media player for my TV and I've read some reviews about them both. The box being older thus having an older android version and the stick being newer with newer android but having overheating issues that can eventually lead to a bricked stick. Cost wise, they're quite the same here. I do have a 1080p tv but the 4k stick variant seems newer over the older version.
So any recommendations here? Would mostly like to watch some netflix n stream youtube.
The stick tv 4k is good enough for streaming. The only issue is Android 11 that is a headache with the new scoped storage. But if you have a tv with dolby vision support and you care about it go for the stick.
Pros stick tv 4k: Better hardware. (But same ram/rom size) Newer than mi box s 4k Better codecs The remote control is universal so you can turn on/off, volume up/down your tv with the same rc. Dolby vision, atmos and HDR10 support.
Cons: Android 11 scoped storage (atm, maybe fix it later) Overheat You need an extra otg cable with micro usb in power supply to be able to connect a usb stick.
Pros mi box s 4k It looks better, better design It's cooler Android 9 without storage issues and more stable. You have power supple in, audio out and an usb port separately. HDR10
Cons: Older hardware No dolby support It won't update to Android 10.
