I think you'll get the 64 bit version of the OS with the 4GB option, you'll also get a better performance overall.

the only reason it's necessary is, even if it's not necessary, the first time you experience some slowness with the 2gb, you'll regret not getting the 4gb. Experience slowness with the 4gb and you won't have regret, you'll just be rolling your eyes at goog

For the comments, I think you should get the 4G version, because 64 bit is a lot better for sideloading tablet apps.
Choose the 4GB Version
Always go for more ram if available for the device you are looking at, because some of that ram is used for the device OS itself and the rest are running apps and if you decide to add extra storage if available to do so then it wouldn’t hurt having the extra ram extra ram as always a good thing.
Don't think you'd regret getting the 4gb.
