We have a chromecast with Google/Android TV installed. When watching BBC iPlayer, it seems to switch to ‘screensaver’ mode for no reason.
The app doesn’t crash, as soon as you press a button the app carries on back in the same place as though it’s been paused. It’s doesn’t happen to any other apps though - any ideas as to why this is happening and a way to fix it?
I get the same on a Sony Bravia (google TV OS). Seems to be after approximately 10 minutes, pressing the info button keeps it alive but I guess the video playing should really be doing that itself anyway!
Same thing here with Chromecast with Google TV- seems to have been an iPlayer update mid week. It was going into Ambient mode after a few minutes. Disabling ambient mode just turns off the Chromecast altogether after the same period.

Any streaming app in CCwGTV goes to Ambient Mode after a few minutes

The problem is when the screensaver comes on. For some reason, it causes iPlayer to freeze. If you change the timing of the screensaver to 1 hour or 2 hours, the problem goes away
I have the Formuler GTV which is Google Certified and I am not having the same issue with iPlayer. Try updating the app with Aptoide TV app.
