for whatever reason, my Nvidia Shield's audio just died. can see video but absolutely no audio. I am ready to dump this thing after 2 hours of troubleshooting with googling and youtubing.
is there any android box with 4K that can easily side load apps, usb3 for ext hard drive, Play store out of the box, good for movies, i dont care too much for gaming.
depends where you live, but the 'Homatics R 4k plus' box looks like the best, supporting all surround audio and HDR formats, with netflix cert, giga Lan port, optical out, plenty of ram and internal storage. Unfortunately it does not seem to be in stock, I may get the Homatics myself as I need an optical out for surround sound.
Also do you mean your shield HDMI port is damaged?
I have this problem intermittently with my Nvidia shield on the TV downstairs. Power cycling the TV and the shield resolves it. I assume it's the HDMI cable or port on the TV.
Have you tried replacing the cable and/or swapping the HDMI port on the TV?
I have the cylinder nVidia Shield. Audio is connected via a cheap bluetooth soundbar. Maybe once a month, audio dies. I go into my device settings, tell it to re-connect and its working again.
NOTE: Its HDMI from player to TLC-TV and while audio on the TV Speakers always work, its not very loud. SPDIF digital passthru doesn't work, hence the reason why I went bluetooth.
