Looking for Kiosk-type mode using files from USB

by JoelMontgomery

I have to set up an Android TV as a Kiosk screen, just looping through a few images (or I could save them as a video, if that helps). The images are saved on a USB stick, and the TV may not be connected to wifi once in place - so I can't just direct them to load a URL in a browser.

Trying to find the best way to do this as automatically as possible. I can work out getting an app that auto-launches another app on startup, but not sure if there are any apps I can get that can start autoplaying files from a USB stick when opened. The best option I've found so far is to just use the media player, but that still requires someone using the remote to navigate to the right files and open them.

There's a customizable screensaver app I have, ("photo gallery and screensaver") idk if it does off a USB drive since my ATV doesn't have that, Kodi should work, but that's certainly not small and might be overkill.

My TV has an option to watch photos from my USB and loop them infinitely while on full screen (slideshow). Could that be enough?

Also try looking for slideshow apps that could work without internet.

Try Xibo or Posterbooking type services.

Xibo has a small learning curve but you can even do videos and remotely manage through wifi if need be.

I forget the name of the app but it's in the playstore for Android tv... do a quick search
