Having this issue as well, July 6 2022. Can only connect if I don't have a WiFi password set up. Hope an update fixes this, but not going to sit with an unsecured network waiting for it and I don't feel like doing a factory reset yet. If any future people find a solution, please let me know
edit: So I went ahead and did a factory reset, and I'm still encountering the same problem, which is certainly frustrating, but also seems incredibly weird, since I know I was able to set up wifi when I got the tv. I always assumed literally everything was rolled back during a factory reset, but maybe not?
edit2: After talking to TCL support, I figured out that my issue was that I had a wireless usb keyboard plugged into my tv, which was preventing the on-screen keyboard from popping up. The on-screen keyboard has the necessary "enter" button that is otherwise invisible. This is obviously a huge, stupid design flaw, but at least there's a solution.
Have you tried pressing exit or back on the remote then ok after inserting password? Or else you can connect a keyboard and press enter from it.
