Can't switch accounts on YouTube App anymore

by chelowski

I used to have the option to switch accounts in the YT app itself. But for some reason now YouTube prompts the Google TV account selector instead, and it doesn't show any other secondary accounts already logged on the device (maybe because I don't have the new Multiple Profile support yet?).

UPDATE: I can switch now, seems like my CCwGTV got Multiple Profiles and it picks up other accounts. But my Realme TV Stick still doesn't have it. I hope these are signs that it will roll out to everyone.

I just got this tonight and it's absolutely infuriating. It's impossible to sign in to any other accounts.

Same. My wife's account is completely inaccessible for YouTube on my CCwGTV

It's a disgrace!

I have multiple google accounts from different countries.

The chosen YT account will automatically swith the profile account too.

And on top of that, it will now auto install/enforce local apps based on the country's account. It will re-install them constantly no matter how often you uninstall them.

Every restart, I am asked to accept again the terms of service (Maybe because I am not in India and based in a country without googleTV support).

The good thing is that I only use GoogleTV when I travel.

Just realised that after deleting all my accounts and kept my main account (Belgium), I wasn't able to sign in anymore to youtube. WTF

Yep same here in Australia as of this morning. Wife's account is signed in, but only option is to remove it, to rather than for example sign in as her.

Same here in Canada. It started doing this today. I restarted Google TV and it seemed to fix itself.

same here...EDIT: I just got Multi Profile support on Google TV after restarting the Chromecast.

Same here. There is the option to delete my husband's account but not to sign in as him anymore (on YouTube for instance). Does anyone know how to fix this?

I was having this same issue and may have found a workaround. I turned off 2FA on my Google account and it signs in now. When I click "Sign in" on the youtube app on the Shield TV, my phone should say "Are you trying to sign in? Yes or no?" but it isn't prompting. So I went to Google App on my phone, clicked on Manage your Google Account, security, then 2 Factor Authentication and turned it off.

THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE BUG, HONESTLY.
