Hello, I bought my Mi Box S in march and works "perfectly" fine (if we won't include the main screen, which is buggy) on android 9. I bought the device knowing it was Android 11. I reached out to xiaomi support and they said that I could upgrade it WITHOUT TELLING ME HOW TO!! Please someone help me, because it's really bugging me. PLEASE!
They lied to you unless they are preparing an update to Android 11 without announcing anything yet which I don't believe it's a reality yet.
Xiaomi is diligent at releasing firmware updates but they usually come buggy, however, they've been improving in that regard ever since the Android 8 update arrived back in june 2018 which it was a disaster.
Time will tell.

You cannot update Mi Box S, unless Xiaomi officially release the new update via OTA. Mi Box S and your new device probably use different processors and chipsets so the new device runs Android TV 11, while the Mi Box S, released 4 years ago, runs on Android TV 9.
I think you wanted to buy Xiaomi TV stick 4K (released last year & runs Android TV 11), but bought Mi Box S instead.
No idea what Xiaomi customer support meant. It could be one of many things the other user commented.

It's not officially released for any Xiaomi devices afaik. You know it makes zero difference right, the main dash appearance is controlled server side. Most countries get the 'new' dash now, with the ads at the top.

Nope only android TV 9. That's why I upgraded to the Walmart Onn. It runs android TV 10.
