MiBox S does break flash drives

by xeinebiu

Hello Guys.

I wanted to let you know my opinion about MiBox S and flash drives.

Some months ago, I bought a MiBox S for my uncle and used his flash drive to put some APKs on the MiBox as they are not available on market. The flash drive got corrupted and it could not even boot anymore.

I thought that my MacBook adapter for USB Flash Drive did break it.

Today, I tried my own MiBox S and 128GB Storage to sideload again some APK, and the Flash Drive went corrupted and dead within some seconds of usage.

So, please ignore this product or at least do not use a flash drive on it.

I never had problems with flash drives. Some flash drives can not be compatible with the box. Make sue the drives are formatted in fat32. Plus use a windows machine. Macs formats drives differently.

I’ve been using flash drives to sideload apps on my MiBox for five years, and never had an issue. I load the apps to the drive from my Mac, too.

Use X-Plore File Manager as a workaround.

Claim for warranty. You got faulty device there.

I have a 4 Gig. Stick I use for sideloading apps - as I never have issues with it. On Mi-Box, Fire TV 4K stick, Shield.

Same with Nvidea Shield. Me thinks they generate too much heat... Little HD works perfectly.

Huh, funny you brought up this issue. Had exact same issue, USB flash drive filesystem go corrupt after some time. Then if I plug it back on Windows machine, it would repair the filesystem and files would be visible again!

I use a USB adapter for microSD connected to my MiBox S and MiTV.

FX Explorer works quite well with AndroidTV so I use it to access files, either video or audio:

No problems found with corrupted files or drives. But I use Sandisk Extreme microSD cards just to be safe.

So how did you try to fix the drives? Tried diskpart to delete the partitions and reformat?
