Hi. I've been searching for an app which plays the TV's audio to my smartphone so that I connect to my wired headphones. I've seen this feature only on Samsung TVs. Would've been cool if there was an android tv app for it. Do share if you guys know about such an app.
Why not just use Bluetooth headphones?
Sure a 1st party company can support its own devices, but it doesn't means that a 3rd party app can just replicate this feature.
You're better of with a Bluetooth receiver.

Op, the app I suggested mirrors your tv screen and the sound to your phone, mirroring should not remove your tv picture from the TV.
You can try it and see if it works for you. It won't cost anything to try.

That app is suppose to work both ways, and I do npt use it. So idk about it.

The only sure to work method, would be to use a hardware based solution like these:

You would take the audio out of the TVs headphone output jack by plugging into it. Then use a audio to Bluetooth transceiver to send the audio directly to your phone.
Maybe this is a solution?
So i think OP wants to play the TV audio in the smartphone and then use wired headphones to listen to the sound, i am just kidding LOL.

I’m not familiar with any app but, you can pair Bluetooth headphones natively with the majority of Google TV devices, and if you insist in using a wired headphone you can then buy a very inexpensive Bluetooth receiver
