Help: Control AndroidTV using android no WiFi

by djhamilton

Looking for any suggestions, I have stupidly traveled away for a week, packed my Android TV. To arrive at my destination to notice I have left the remote control at home.

I have no IR Blaster, an I have no WiFi hotpot I can connect to automatically

Is there any way to use an android phone as a usb mouse / keyboard so I can control my device or at least connect it to a hotspot or something? If I can connect it to a hotspot then I can use an app that connects using Wi-Fi like Android TV Remote.

Open to any suggestions. I have usb cables for phone to plug into it, but no keyboard or mouse with me.

Could you set your phone Hotspot to match your home setup? Not sure if the android TV app would work then.

You could ask if anyone else has a travel router that could help you with that.

Once you have some access, you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.appground.blek to use your phone as a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard. But it wouldn't help with the initial pairing unless the TV is device is always scanning.

If all else fails run to the nearest WalMart and see if they have the $20 ONN UHD in stock.

You should be able to use the remote in the Google TV app on your Android or iPhone. If I remember correctly it works both by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.. at least on Android devices it does. ( Assuming your box supports that)
