Nvidia Shield is the King & its great if you plan on playing games on it as well. if just Streaming / Video playback then Id recommend the Amazon Fire Tv Cube 2nd Gen. It can do what the Shield can do, minus some of the Heavier gaming. The Fire Tv Cube 2nd Gen is even being sold for around $75 Brand New on Ebay right now, Which is Less than Half of the Shield.

3 or 4 cheap devices later i realize i could have got myself an Nvidia shield with the money ive spent and saved myself a lot of time.

I know you dont wanna hear it (least i know I didn't) but do yourself a favour..

Get an Nvidia Shield, any one of them will be far superior anything else out there

I think you should reconsider for the Shield TV Pro 2019, but if you don't want to pay for it, I would say the Chromecast with Google TV could be a good option if you are mainly streaming content from official apps.

For other large files, like BD Remux, I am not sure of how it would behave.

2. Tivo Stream 4K (cheap but not as cheap when it went on clearance)

3. Keep waiting.

4. Get a FireTV 4K Max

Current Android TV and Google TV boxes and dongles with Dolby Vision and Atmos certifications.

You should have a look at the Firestick 4K Max. Install it with Kodi 19.4 and Ezra addon with a Real-Debrid subscription you will have all the Movies and TV Series you could ever want for next to nothing.

I bought a used Apple TV 4K (2017) for my LG C1 (also second hand) and i've never looked back, it's amazing

I recommend Xiaomi mi stick 4k the new one is better now and that fit well for ur LG.

buy a used one, then you will get your must haves.
