So I have a Mi Box 4k with Sony HT-RT3 receiver, connected with the Toslink (SPDIF) cable. I came to know that Kodi can convert AAC (or any format) to AC3 on-the-fly. My receiver only supports AC3 through optical cable. All the right settings are on still the conversion is not happening for some reason.
-
Enabled passthrough
-
Number of channels 2.0
-
Enabled AC3 capable receiver
-
Enabled AC3 transcoding
-
Disabled DTS capable receiver
Local AAC files through Kodi, and audio from Youtube addon for Kodi still shows as LPCM in the receiver. What can be the problem?
Is it not because you've got number of channels set to 2.0? Optical can handle 2.0 LPCM, so it wouldn't need to transcode.
I don't use Kodi but I guess it wont transcode unless it needed to.
