Video media player that supports playing over network and adjusting styled subtitles

by monsieurvampy

Hello all,

I recently purchased an Nvidia Shield to replace my Fire TV Stick running Kodi. I've attempted in Kodi and VLC to adjust subtitles for styled fonts, usually embedded within a media container in the SSA format. I have an OLED TV, where the common place "white" subtitle can be blinding at times. The only solution I have figured out thus far is to play via computer (HDMI) and adjusting the styled fonts manually each time in MPC-HC. This partially defeats the purpose of having the Shield.

Is there an android app that works in a similar fashion? Files are via network on unraid server and shared folder on windows desktop.

Nplayer? Solid Explorer for folder mount and any local video player you want? Plex? (would require you install Plex Media Server on either the Unraid server or the Windows PC)
