External player for Plex, possible?

Has anyone managed to set external player for plex on their androidtv? The tv UI removes the option but on the mobile/tablet UI the option is there. Since the apk is all-in-one, I suppose if we could somehow trigger the app to run in mobile UI (like some other all-in-one apps) set the external player and use it in tv ui? Thoughts?

Oh OK, I thought you were wanting to use the mobile UI instead of the TV one. So you want to bypass exoplayer but still have the Plex UI? What codec support are you missing?

There is a Plex add on in Kodi which uses the Kodi player with a plex (like) experience.

Hi, I am currently facing the same problem, did you by any chance find a solution to this? I am considering moving to emby since apparently its' app supports external video player.
