Google Chromecast + USB Hub versus Android box with built-in USB port?

I bought a Google Chromecast with Google TV in 2021 ($60 CAN). I added a USB C Hub Adapter ($36 CAN) so that I could attach USB storage to play other videos. While I really like the Google TV interface and experience, I'm wondering if it would have made more sense to go with another Android TV device that already has the USB port built it. It might even be less costly.

What is the consensus here about the best choice for an Android TV device with a USB port for playing external content?

Well, for one thing you would lose the ability to "cast" to it from your devices like an actual Chromecast, wouldn't you? I have a hub on mine too, but just for the ability to use an Ethernet cable.
