Best Android box for car

by TheShallowState

Any good options for either 12v or USB powered android boxes?

Right now I am using a Micca player in my car for the rear entertainment stat SEM but it can’t do x265 encoded files.

So now looking and there are so many of them but I want something that doesn’t require an inverter and other stuff to work.

I would like something that can store local files too.

I don't know where you are but if you're in the US, I'd recommend the Walmart ONN 4K box. You could get it for $20 at Walmart and it'll run what you need besides Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos. It runs off Micro-USB and it's very tiny so you can easily hide it if need be

Lots of android double din head units with video out. Have you looked into it them?

Any android box running VLC will suffice. Just need to solder the DC connector to a usb cable then you can use your cigarette lighter for power. Or a USB-A to USB-A cable. I can confirm generic android boxes do power on if you supply power via one of the usb ports. Works just fine. You can also use a firestick instead.

If you have an hdmi port why bother with a box, get an android auto dongle instead.
