HEVC (x265,H265) on android TV!?

by MrAnte06

Hey.

I have noticed that some downloaded movies I have on my 2TB external hard drive that is x265 format, that they stutter. They do play on nova video player and VLC on my android tv, but like every 10th second it gets pixelated for about 5 seconds, sometimes in the movie it also stutters and jump a little bit in the audio if you understand.

The weird thing is that this happens with 4K x265 files and with some 1080p x265 files. But not every one of them, which is weird. Another thing I have noticed is that some older movies from for example 2008 can be a x265 BluRay file and that plays flawlessly on both media players, but when I play a newer movie with the exact same codec and everything, it pixelates and stutters like I said before.

And the last thing I want to say is that the worst stuttering is with x265 4k files, and with some x265 1080p movies too, but NOT every 1080p file, and I really wonder why. Why do some older x265 1080p movies work flawlessly while newer movies with the exact same codec stutters and pixelates??

Can someone please help me and give me an answer, and what could I maybe do to play my movie files flawlessly??

This post is about a Hitachi 50HAL7351 android tv, and these problems are when I plug my hard drive directly into the TV. (NO external smart box for example nvidia shield is involved)

Someone can correct me to the right term but sounds like to me the device in question can't handle the bitrate used in the newer/higher quality files.

It probably cannot HW decode h265 streams.....And using SW and an underpowered CPU is causing to cause lag

No such problems with Kodi on a Sony A80J playing x265 files on my network.

Is your TV 4K or 1080p? HDR or SDR?
