YouTube on my Shield has no sidebar and keeps having issues during playback. Tried reinstalling, which didn't help. Tried rebooting and power cycling, also didn't help.
I think this is a problem with the YouTube AndroidTV app and not our devices.
Do yourself a favor and install Smart Tube Next on that TV using the downloader app. Zero commercials and much faster. Only downside is that casting from mobile is a little wonky.
YouTube for Android TV on my CCwGTV and Fire TV Cube have the same issue where the sidebar is gone and YouTube Premium features aren’t working.

It's fixed now in the US, click a random video and try to subscribe, it will let you log in
There must be a dispute between Google and Google.
Mine isn't so much down as wonky. It kept saying it couldn't get internet. Then it no longer has a sidebar with home, subscribed, search, settings etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it on my Chromecast with Google TV and it stays the same. Cleared data as well. And it is not showing me any videos that would interest me at all. And now while I have it just sitting on the main screen it says it has no internet again. I think the app is broken.

Same case on the PS4 and Switch in terms of the lack of a sidebar, but both of those have me logged in

Our new Sony TV arrived today and me and my partner were so excited ! Set it all up and everything was working great. About an hour later and YouTube is not working/won't sign in/no side bar etc. We were like wtf ?? New TV which we spent a ton of money on is pants ?? We tried uninstalling the app updates and a bunch of other stuff, added another account (which I couldn't remember the password for, which was another whole thing) and eventually went back to factory settings. We re-booted everything and the problem was still there. I looked for software updates, while my exhausted partner fell asleep and, while they were installing I started browsing Reddit and came across this post. Thanks so much OP for starting this thread, since I am now reassured this is a widespread thing which will probably (hopefully) be resolved soon ! Sorry for the rant. I just had to tell someone :p

Try to remove updates in com.google.android.tvlauncher. Did this and Youtube logged in.
Same with me Sony google TV, after trying, I resigned my google account but now I don't have menu and videos crash after a few minutes, complaining youtube is not updated.
