I bought this remote Xiaomi XMRM-010 on aliexpress knowing so well it's neither supported on CwGTV (won't show up in Remotes and accessories) nor does it work right out of the box (wrong & missing key codes) but once you've managed to make it work, it feels so rewarding. I'm pretty sure you can do this trick with any bluetooth remote controls on any non-rooted androidTV, not just CwGTV. If your androidtv device is rooted, it's better to add a customized .kl file to /system/usr/keylayout instead.
What I did/used to make it work:
- Bluetooth manager app: any sideloaded bt manager app can pair this rc with the CwGTV, only needed for first time pairing. Once it's paired, a bit tricky though, it'll appeared in R&A and you can re-connect though that.
- Tasker & AutoInput: some buttons won't get recognized by Button Mapper (popup disappeared after pressing) or Key Mapper (unknown keycode 0). If you use KM and map them anyway, all those buttons will do the same action. Workaround below.
Create a Key Event profile -> AutoInput Key for those buttons that can't be recognized. Each of them, despite giving keycode 0 (what android understands of), has their own scan code (their unique identity). You can use KM's extra logging (toggle long messages) to find out their scan codes. Make a task for this profile with an if condition using %aiscancode.
What don't work:
2 things that won't work on this particular rc: assistant (activates GA but mic doesn't work) and blue button (works like another assistant button). I created another workaround for blue button by skipping GA screen with a "back" key event before launching its assigned app. It affects the top assistant button as well but meh. I also created a fail safe switch in case I need voice input on the main rc.
Update:
- Power button can turn on the TV but only turns off CwGTV: if you set the Chromecast Remote butttons to HDMI-CEC, power button can turn TV off but depends how good your TV supports HDMI-CEC. If original rc can't turn TV off with CEC option, this remote can't either.
- Volume buttons only work on bluetooth speakers: switching to HDMI-CEC for volume buttons fixes this.
While it can't replace the main rc, it certainly gives me joy browsing my CwGTV in general and most importantly, I can now search for my favourite channels in Fibe TV app (Canada) by their numbers using numeric buttons easily.
I think you have purchased the wrong remote . You should have bought XMRM-006 (This one is for Mibox). The one you bought is for Mistick. There is difference in both
