It is a cool gimmick at it's best cause so far I have never casted my screen to my TV and never actually found a reason to try this out. It would have been useful for dumb TVs without any app support imo but that is not the case here.
Ick
This is why we absolutely need faaaar better 2nd screen integration (Like Dex or other "Desktop" modes)
The OP example is not just useless, it's broken.
Seems I'm in the minority here, but I probably cast my screen at least a few times a week. That said, I don't think I'd want to pick up the TV remote to initiate casting when I can do everything from my phone...seems extra.
For those wondering. I usually cast my phone when showing someone a funny video I stumbled across or looking at something like a restaurant menu with other people in the room.
How useful do you think it is?
how often do you cast to your TV ON A DAILY BASIS
how fast can you cast to your TV without this feature?
pull down the notification bar
click on the cast icon
select the cast target
We are talking about 3 vs 6 seconds.
in my case: absolute gimmick
a little. not something that'd actually factor in my decision to buy a tv though
It would be more useful if it worked as a selector for the Chromecast target inside apps like YouTube or twitch. I often get to the TV while watching something on my phone and I want to continue on the TV.
Wow, that's a great feature. Didn't know OnePlus makes TVs
Does TCL have this?
I never use the remote that came with the TV. So not at all to me... Putting it physically on the base or something might get some use at our house.
If it were a youtube video cast and the video continued on the TV but the phone screen turned off, then it would be a nice to have feature.
my oneplus detecting NFC and opening some prompt but casting not working
Not especially useful for me. In my 3 years with Android TV I've only casted my phone screen maybe twice.
