Hello everyone, I connect logitech z506 via converter through optical cable.
The problem is only sony stock player can play 5.1ch audio but other 3rd party apps like Mx player, Vlc, Netflix, Amazon & Jellyfin play audio in stereo mode on all 5 speakers.
Same thing happened when i connect z906 only stock player passthrough the dts & console light turn on.
Also what does Subwoofer options for in Audio output setting?
Coz when i turn it on z906 produce extra bass but i am not sure whether it's originally intended to.
& isn't Audio Variable option in audio output should change volume via Tv remote also affect on speaker also? Coz mine won't change on both speakers system.
Tv model - Sony x8000e.
I've got an x90j and spent the last week or so working through a very similar problem. Here's what I found.
Under Settings | Display & Sound | Audio Output, I have it set for Audio System. Digital audio out is set to "Auto 1". Dolby Digital Plus Output is set to "Dolby Digital" (my receiver doesn't support Plus). Pass through mode is set to Auto.
I'm using Kodi. In there under Settings | Audio, I have Number of channels set to 2.0 (the reason is complicated, but trust me). Allow passthrough enabled. In the Expert options, I have Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver enabled. DTS capable receiver enabled, etc. I also enabled Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding.
I tested various different formats and looked at the info on the receiver to see what signal type was detected. Ran some speaker test videos to make sure it really was 5.1 channel.
DTS sources show up on the receiver as DTS 3/2/.1 (5.1). Other 5.1 sources show up as Dolby Digital 5.1. 2.0 sources show up as Dolby Digital 2.0, which my receiver uses PLII-C to make surround-ish.
Results are mixed for other apps:
