I got chatting to someone who works at Now TV and they said that they don't seem to have enough demand from customers to release the app on Android TV (despite it being available for Sony Android TV customers). He said if enough customers submitted feedback requests it would be prioritised on their backlog.
My ask - please can you submit a feedback request to NOW - Help - Complaints (nowtv.com) asking nicely for them to release the android TV application!
There's already an Android TV app for Now TV, but it's been limited to the Amazon Fire TV platform and store. There's a few APIs that need to be updated to support Google services, but otherwise Amazon actively encourage developers to use both app stores:

I always thought it was some kind of commercial agreement that limited the distribution of the app, some kind of exclusivity deal, but it sounds like it isn't. I'm just surprised it hasn't been done yet - it's exactly the same for All4 - there's a very good Fire TV app, but no Android TV app.
I cancelled within 1 hour of signing with Now TV when I realized I could not install on my Andoird TV device. They sent me a questionnaire which ai states this, and have added the complaint as well now...
This will never happen. Same with all4
