Nova Video Player on TCL R646 (Google TV)

by jojee2k6

New to Android/TCL SQUAD. I have installed Nova Video player on my TCL R646, but having two issues, wondering if you can asisst:

  1. I oftenly use BT Soundcore Q30 wireless headphones, audio in Nova is so dull and weak while watching 4K Dolby Atmos contents, unless I use boost audio option which destroys the encoded sound quality, same movie when I play in default TCL media player in same environment, it works flawlessly but I dont like default media player. Any idea why sound quality is not being picked up?
  2. If I change video settings in TCL R646 while playing let say SDR DV contents, it does apply to all contents, rather it should be to that content specific, whatever settings I apply, they being applied to all contents. It doesn't happen in Netflix though, for each diff content netflix auto picks my custom calibrations, but the Nova player not.

Try preference: "disable audio downmix" so the TV can decode all channels. For the second one, you may need to try the 6.x prerelease versions for the new Dolby Vision support it has unless DV means something else...

Change the output on the TV to never play surround sound so the TV doesn't have to try and convert the Atmos . Bluetooth headphones can't play Atmos and the TV can't send atmos through Bluetooth anyway and the TV is probably only using sbc for Bluetooth which is the lowest quality Bluetooth available. Nova will play the file as is regardless of your settings. If it's Dolby Vision and you don't have a Dolby Vision capable TV or you have Dolby Vision turned off. Nova will still play the file in Dolby vision because that's all it has available to it. But since it doesn't appear to support DV it won't play it properly. Netflix will detect your settings or the capability of your gear and provide the appropriate stream to match it. If I'm understanding your questions correctly.

Don't forget to report the issue at the Nova Video Player sub.

Did you ever get better audio tracks or resolution? The question I had is the HDD that stores your media how is that connected . Under my storage devices connected USB to 2021 LG TV 's Oleds with recent updates in April 2022 and June's update that UHD 3048* 4kUHD where highest audio Codec 2021 support was (DD) now over this year it supports DTS-HD, DTS-True, Dolby Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus . What I'm asking these arse the first sets I know that have the capability to play those formats over it's USB ports and from HDD
