Disney plus error 83

by HaggisMcMuffin

Just bought our first TV. It is a TCL series 5 with a google OS. When I try to log into Disney plus it gives me error 83. All other apps seem to work fine. So far I have reinstalled Disney plus twice. Reset the tv. Unplugged it and my router. Tried logging in while connected to a hotspot. I spent a while on tech support and neither Disney or TCL had any fixes. Does anyone have any ideas or should I return the tv and try a different brand?

Thanks.

I had an issue recently with both Disney and Netflix because of trying to use USB audio output and apparently people have had similar problems with other odd audio interfaces. Similarly, people have had issues with HDMI and HDCP with similar results. Maybe try unplugging things from the TV (if you have anything plugged in) and go component by component to pinpoint the issue.

I spoke to Disney+ support yesterday after getting this error myself. Tried all the usual steps, re-installing, re-setting TV etc. Then it switched to error 42. I even tried sideloading previous versions of the app to see if that fixed the error, and it did not.

Disney told me it's a known issue, that lots of people on Android TV are having the same issue since the last update and they're working on an fix which should be out soon and will correct this issue.

It's annoying that I can't watch anything on Disney in the meantime, but at least they're aware, and they've extended my subscription by 14 days. Just hope it's up and running soon.

Signed up for an annual Disney+ subscription last month. I'm using 2 nvidia shield boxes, 2 Chromecasts and my personal pixel mobile phone. All the same issue Error 83 and I know it's not my network because I switched my phone to mobile connection, same issue. I was able to get the app to work on my newer Nvidia shield but I had to sideload an older version of the app. Tried to do the same on my older Nvidia shield but couldn't get it to work. It's definitely something with their Android app. Pathetic that Disney can't get their act together on this.
