nvidia Shield tV Pro with youTube hDR problems or Chromecast with google tV?

I know this has been asked many times and I've read many posts already, but I can't seem to make up my mind. I'm looking for an Android device device to use with my LG 4K TV, since I hate the fact that I'm currently using my TV and my provider's TV box for different apps, thus having to use two remotes. I'll be using it for streaming mainly.

I got really enthousiastic about the Shield TV Pro. Good hardware, customization options, and future proof, but it seems it can't handle YouTube HDR. In what way will this be a problem? I watch quite a lot of videos on YouTube, so is this a deal breaker?

Edit: I don't know what happened with the capitalized characters in the title there..

I have a first gen Shield TV and I have YT Premium and watch a ton of YouTube as well. I find the lack of HDR on YouTube to be a bit of a bummer, but no big deal really. Everything else has HDR, so I'm happy with that. If I come across a video that is HDR and I absolutely must see it in HDR, I'll just use the TV app.

Maybe, the Google TV is fine. It's zippy enought and should be supported for awhile since it's Google. There are a few issues ppl have. I have a $20 ONN 4k box that has the same storage as the Google TV but out of the box has much more available storage.

My biggest issue with the Google TV is that I couldn't even install all my apps that I usually use because it's OS uses up sooooo!!! much storage.

So I would just recommend buying a supported OTG cable and connect a inexpensive flash drive (I had a 32gb lying around but anything above 8gb should be fine).

If in the US, u could just get the $20 ONN 4k box (Walmart online) and it does YouTube HDR and HDR in general. Just not Atmos or HDR 10, but if ur tv doesn't support that, then no biggie. It has a IR combo remote so it can replace ur tv remote and be an all in one remote. I really enjoy my ONN box and use it more then the Google tv tbh. Then when/if shield finally updates thier shield pro (the intervals r identical to the 2015 models I think) u can splurge on that finally updated "future proof" model. Here's a review on the onn box. This guy does pretty good, short, in depth reviews on stuff like this.

I actually upgraded from a cc to the shield pro.

The shield pro recognized my off brand TV and I can use the shield remote to control the TV (finally).

And the shield streamed larger 4k files from my server better than the cc. (Some didn't even work on the cc)
