Disney+ Error Code 42

-RESOLVED-

u/juzmafia suggested I turn off IPv6 in network settings and I was able to sign in.

I am getting Error Code 42 from Disney+ on both my Sony A80J and my Shield Pro.

I have reset my network, unplugged all devices, uninstalled and reinstalled Disney+.

Disney support is telling me it’s a known issue but I can’t find anyone else having this problem online.

Am I alone or has anyone resolved this?

Thanks in advance!

On Shield TV, have you disable IPv6 under network settings?

Might not related to your issue but currently there's playback issue with some Atmos content on Disney+ after the SE 9.0 update.

There are a few different responses that Error 42 can occur. Most typically it boils down to one of the following:

A fault with your internet connection.

An issue with the app or the device you are trying to stream on.

It could also be an issue with the Disney Plus servers, especially if you are trying to view during peak time.

The solutions outlined above will usually be sufficient to fix the first two of these issues. But if it’s an issue with the Disney servers, then it is just a case of waiting until it gets fixed.

Try these methods to see if they can help:

Sign out of Disney Plus and sign back in again.

If you’re using a web browser, try clearing the cache in order to remove any temporary files that may have become corrupted.

Make sure the app is fully up to date.

I should add that I do not have error code 42 on Apple TV, my iPhone, my web browser or my iPad. Just my Sony TV and Nvidia Shield Pro. There also should be no network issue because I can stream 4k HDR Blu-ray rips from my Plex server on the Shield Pro with no issue.

I just had the same issue on my Pixel and CCwGTV. Turned off inet6 to fix the issue, too. Get it together, Cox! I would suspect it's a DNS issue over IPv6. I don't have a hassle-free way to get a PCAP. Good thing I don't have anything relying on inet6 yet.

I hoist recently bought a Droid TV and google TV and this saved me. I have to turn off IPv6 and it worked. Thank you so much!!
