Google Chromecast with Google TV: Choose which tab when I click Home Button

Hi. Firstly I'd like to clarify, I am from Asia. I have a Google CwGTV. Apparently this morning, it has updated to a new UI. Now whenever I press the "Home" button, it takes me to the "For You" tab. Thing is, most of the streaming apps that are listed in the "For You" tab are not available in my country anyways , and I don't use Netflix. So this tab is 99% useless for me.

So it's preferable for me for the "Home" button takes me to the app tab instead, where I can directly go to what I want to use. Are there any way for me to assing which Tab the "Home" button goes to?

I wish! None that I know of. You can switch to "apps only" mode if you don't care about Google Assistant. That will remove all the options and just give you a simple list of apps. (Which you can't even reorder.)

  • Which country? I'm also from Asia (South Asia to be exact), but I don't have the "For You" tab.
  • If I'm not mistaken, that's not a "new" UI. It's the "default" UI of Google TV; with 6 tabs. It'll show at least 5 tabs ("For You", "Shows", "Movies", "Apps" & "Library"). People in "unsupported" countries (like me) will get 3 tabs instead ("Home", "Apps" & "Library")
  • How are you getting "Home" & "For You" tabs at the same time? Can you share an image of it?
