Cheap Finlux/Arena tv with Android TV has broken software - any fix?

by lasseol94

I have inherited a Finlux TV with Android TV. It is a cheap TV that was returned for service at the dealer, and since the dealer could not sell the TV, my father got it for free and I have since tried to fix it, but without success.

I think there is a major bug in the software/launcher. For some reason, it is impossible to open settings or any apps. Every time I try to open something, it goes back to the "Start" page on the launcher. I also can't open settings and reset the TV for the same reason. I can't practically do anything with the TV - all I can do is switch inputs. I also can't download any apps because I can't open Google Play. I can't think of any ways that I can get the TV to work. Do you have any suggestions?

My tentative solution is to use a Chromecast with Google TV, but it would be nice if I could get the TV's own software to work properly.

FYI, I have experience with ADB and flashing, but I can't find any firmware online, and I also can't enable ADB, since the settings app doesn't work.

Buy a decent Android TV box, and use that for your TV needs.

Through few Google searches, i couldn't find the exact manual of the tv in question, but I found This general guide how to do factory reset on Android tv devices.

First part tells you the normal way with menus that you obviously can't follow, but it also has few ways to do it using key combinations and boot into the recovery menu.

That way you should be able to wipe it clean and then fix any of the issues that prevents you from accessing the settings on it.
