BBC iPlayer available through play store on every Android TV device?

I remember that the BBC iPlayer is only available to download through the Play Store on a small list of certified Android TV devices:

You had to side load the app instead on all the other devices. Is that still the case in 2022? Or is the app finally available on any Android TV device that comes with access to the UK Play Store?

Yes, that's still the case in 2022.

BBC iPlayer (& other UK streaming apps) are very picky about Android TV support

This bricked my android tv. Don’t try it. Had to factory reset the device. Weird that google allow apps that do this.
