Steer clear from the Realme Tv Stick 4k, it sucks.

Nothing better than buying something and see 4 yourself that all the positive reviews all over the place are bullshit, right?

Tons of positive reviews and YouTube analyses later and I bought this to replace a dead fire stick.

Found out this thing is super slow. If you use just the preloaded apps it's fine, but after I install Abt 10 streaming apps it becomes unusable.i mean it literally. it freezes, takes a couple minutes to boot and too many seconds to do anything, I couldn't watch anything on it after installing a couple apps.

Btw the Google home configuration at 1st boot didn't work with anyone's phone here, it just crashes or hangs on for a long time until it returns an error.

It took about 40 minutes to complete the apps setup, which is curious, since the only apps downloaded were Deezer and Plex.

Limiting background processes to 2 (dev options) helps a lot makes it usable again, but still the thing is slow.

Want more reasons to avoid it? Controller doesn't turn the TV on, doesn't come with batteries, it comes with no power adapter, **the power cord is way too short ** (fire tv= 1.5m / this= 30cm), etc.

Want my advice? This is the worst piece of crap I've seen that's got a Google and netflix certification on it. Don't buy it.

The Amazon fire stick leaves this shit eating dust anytime, it's just way much faster and works fine, despite me thinking FireOS and the Amazon AppStore to be inferior.

EDIT:

Amlogic S905Y4 powers this thing, I didn't know it as there's very little info out there. It's a quad core a35 CPU (slower than the a53, which is already slow),

I little monitoring wnd i found that when idling the 4 cores are constantly maxed out at 2GHz.

The CPU struggles to do its job.

This review title says it all.

Most YouTube reviews of streaming products are too much positive & unreal. I've stopped trusting them ~2 years ago.

Just set one up no real problems as you described took about 10 minutes with phone setup, the system update took a couple of goes to update, it's no way as quick as a firestick 4k, I had a Chromecast with Google TV and that was unremarkable as is the realme but on the plus side it cost half the price of a fs 4k max I think the Google TV overlay and launcher slows things down a bit

Got mine recently just to use with my 2016 Samsung 4K TV because of some smart TV apps don't support older models. It keeps boot looping during first setup. I'll try to download a software update, and if this problem occurs, I'll return it back to them.

EDIT: It still does. After a few minutes of usage, it gets freezing and random restarting again.

Anyone got it broken after update firmware? I just received mine and, after first setup, etc. the device suggested the firmware update (20220106 I believe). Now I'm stuck on infinite boot loop, just Realme logo and reboot, forever. :'(

Hey, does any of You found solution for the boot loop? Mine went to boot loop after first setup.

I will gladly turn back that little shiiiiii...but. I wish I could do at least HR before I will send a device with a Google account on it... Maybe You know how to make Hard Reset with such problematic device?
