Switch to google/android tv (idk if buying advice is the correct flag but i think is the most appropried)

I have a firestick and i dont feel good with the user experience, so i was thinking about switching to android tv, the thing is that i wanted to buy a new tv (possibly 4k), and my project was: buy any 4k tv and then buy a chromecast with google tv, but i was thinking about buying an android tv device and install the google tv launcher.

My worries are that i would spend too much money with the google tv option and the secondo option will not run smoothly as a google tv (interface and streaming).

Do you have any advice or tips to help me out.

The risk of getting a TV that has AndroidTV/GoogleTV built in is that it will surely feel slow and awful long before the TV itself is obsolete.

That being said:

  • They don't really MAKE TVs anymore that aren't SmartTVs. So you're going to end up with some kind of interface no matter what. May as well get something that will be good for a few years instead of something that sucks on day 1.
  • Ironically, new TVs with GoogleTV actually have an option to DISABLE GoogleTV and just have a simple menu system. That makes them a better dumb TV than the rest of the options.
  • You can always get a new dongle later, repeat forever.

Not all brands offer GoogleTV yet, so that might be a bit limiting for you, too. Notably, Samsung and LG do not, which hurts. I'm pretty happy with my Sony, though.

Get an Android TV box. Better hardware, more ports, more powerful and versatile. I won't recommend anything but I have two Mecool Km9 Pro's and I'm very satisfied with them. The newer ones are Netflix certified I understand.
