I agree with what the other poster said. Return/replace. I have recommended them to about 4 people. I personally have 2, between the others we probably have about 8 between all of us and all the voice remotes work perfectly. With all the apps and 3rd party like tivimate and syncler on all of our box's. Definitely sounds like a defective remote/device.
have you tried pairing it again after doing all the updates?

I got one and the hbo max button quit working. Worked fine for awhile
Could just be a bad remote. Can you take it back and get a replacement?
