Switched to FLauncher, CCwGTV Faster?

So I made the switch from Google TV to FLauncher after realizing I was literally not using the Google TV UI for anything except launching apps, which it is clearly not optimized for. I followed FLauncher's adb instructions to disable Google TV and Android TV launchers, and now FL is the default.

So far it's been pretty nice, but I've noticed an interesting side effect, my CCwGTV feels faster now? Going home and switching apps is definitely faster for me, most likely a combination of being taken directly to a grid of apps, and no longer loading a bunch of content recommendations and ads whenever going home. But what I didn't expect is that even just using apps like YouTube and others feels smoother and more responsive? Maybe Google TV has a lot of background overhead I hadn't considered? I don't have any way to measure this, but I was interested if anybody else made the switch and noticed improvements?

I did the same after having enough of the ads showing mildly violent or suggestive content to my 2 and 4 year old before I could rush to start the PBS Kids app.

I have definitely noticed the device is a bit snappier with flauncher. It also broke my YouTube button (which I do actually use), but it was easy to reprogram with a button mapper app.

FLauncher is pretty light.

I imagine the Google TV is the exact opposite like you said, with all the content aggregation and ads and such. It's a media experience hub at this point, not a launcher.

Sideload Channel Launcher 3 is also much faster than Google TV.

Only problem that I found with make a different launcher default is you lose ability to cast on your Chromecast with Google tv

If you know how to fix that I would really appreciate it.

Flauncher I have been using I think about a month now,, yes less drag on the system lightweight I'm really enjoying flauncher, I will stay with this launcher.

Do all the voice functions like search and typing still work with FLauncher?

I downgraded to the old stock launcher because you can hold down the home button (actually my remote has a dedicated button for this) and then a list with your apps slides out from the right. Without even leaving your current app. I never use the home screen. This is the definition of fast.

Hey guys, I’m new here. How do I get FLaunher and disable Google TV and Android TV since I only use it as well to launch Syncler or maybe I can just have Syncler as default
