Video mode not supported

by Low_Philosopher2140

Hey Guys,

I just bought a brand new Xiaomi Mi Box S to make my very old tv a bit smarter, and to make covid quarantine a bit more enjoyable. But somehow the magic didn't happened, and I would be incredibly grateful for some advice.

So my tv is this old boy

When I connect the Mi Box to the TV, the TV says 'Video mode not supported'. So basically I cannot do anything with it in my home. (I don't have an other screen to experiment.)

What i did so far:

After some google search, I tried to change the resolution on the box (I asked my neighbor to test the box with their tv first, connect to my wifi, and change the resolution form 1080p 60 Hz to 480p 60Hz, then they plugged out the box and gave me the device back), but so far it didnt work. I'm a bit clueless right now, beacause the TV worked fine with my buddy's laptop (mine doesn't have an hdmi port)

My tv supports the following resolutions: 640 x 480, 60 Hz 800 x 600, 56 Hz 1024 x 768, 60 Hz 640 x 480, 67 Hz 800 x 600, 60 Hz 1024 x 768, 70 Hz 640 x 480, 72 Hz 800 x 600, 72 Hz 1024 x 768, 75 Hz 640 x 480, 75 Hz 800 x 600, 75 Hz 720 x 400, 70 Hz 832 x 624, 75 Hz

So that's my story short. Am I even on the right track? Or is this an impossible mission? (I know, I probably should buy a new tv, but this one worked just fine so far)

You didn't mention how you attempted to connect the Mi Box S to your TV when you received that error message. Try using an HDMI to DVI adapter. DVI connector is shown as #3 in your TV manual (page 2)

You haven't mentioned how you're connecting it to the TV if it doesn't have a HDMI port. I can see it has a DVI port, are you using a HDMI to DVI cable or a different sort of adapter?

Dvi adapters won't work for this
